With 2025 coming closer and closer (only 1 month away!), I am starting to wonder about what that year will bring me. Work, personal, but also travel wise. Which places would I like to visit and will it even be possible? Let's dream away?
What to expect in this article:
Looking back at 2024
Every year I try to write an article about my travel plans, also in 2024. I will quickly look back at the destinations I wrote down and where I went.
In 2023 I wanted to visit these destinations: Oman, Breda and Vlieland (the Netherlands), Colombia, Copenhagen (Denmark) and East Europe. I did not visit any of these countries, what a joke!
Still, I visited quite some countries, as I visited
- The Taj Mahal & Jaipur in India (which was a bucket list destination!)
- Tallinn (Estonia)
- Terschelling (Netherlands)
- Helsinki (Finland)
- Rhodos (Greece)
- York (United Kingdom)
- Istanbul (Turkey)
Here you can see that a year can change so much, which does not even have to be bad!
Anyway, I am going to make a prediction for 2025, and let’s see if it will be these countries or some others again.
Taiwan
My first travel plan for 2025 will be Taiwan. Taiwan!? Yes! It is not the most known country to visit, but it has been on my list ever since it got canceled in 2020 when COVID-19 happened (link to that article here).
My friend who lives in the Philippines right now will visit her family in Taiwan for the Chinese New Year. When she told me she would, I wanted to visit and experience this massive holiday as well! Especially with her family, it must be so special.
This will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, to witness this holiday with a local family, also because my friend might move to another continent.
I can’t wait to visit this gorgeous country and see all of its beautiful nature.
Copenhagen, Denmark
Last year Copenhagen was already on my list, and it will stay on my list for 2025! I keep hearing good stories about Copenhagen, as it is supposed to be cosy and pretty with all the boats and colorful houses. that’s what my idea of Copenhagen is.
Last year I told about a relative who lives there (I have not seen her for more than 10 years), that my parents and I would visit her, but that never happened. Also because my sister moved abroad, so my parents were helping her out whenever they were free.
Now my boyfriend is in the Netherlands and he’s also dying to visit Copenhagen, the chances might be higher we will visit it. Did you know that in the last 2 months, we tried to find one weekend to go, but it was never the right time? I hope we will find the time in 2025!
Oman
Ever since I was planning to visit Oman in 2022, but it got canceled as we didn’t realize it would be Ramadan (so nothing would be open apparently), my eagerness to go to Oman has not gone down.
Another country I would have visited before, but it did not happen! 2 Years later hopefully I get to visit.
It is actually a quite safe country, not yet discovered, but it has beautiful architecture, nature, and a welcoming culture. Oman is a photographer’s dream! I hope to visit this country with a colleague.
After having visited the Middle East more often (Jordan, UAE, Turkey), and working a lot with Syrian people, I am starting to love the welcoming culture more and more and can’t wait to go to beautiful Oman! Oman belongs on my travel bucket list.
Hong Kong
While visiting Taiwan, we are actually planning to visit Hong Kong as well! How cool. Hong Kong is often a transfer from flying from Amsterdam, so why not stop there for some more days before continuing to Taiwan?
Hong Kong is known for its skyscrapers, cramped houses, good street food, and high prices and I can’t wait to see the views from Victoria Peak and visit Disneyworld! It has been more than 15 years since I last visited Disney park in Paris.

Iceland
Iceland is nr 1 on my bucket list, (the other destinations you can check in this article).
This country must be like you are stepping on a different planet. That’s also what I have heard from so many people that have been there. The landscapes are absurdly beautiful. Whether you come in the winter, when it’s a winter wonderland, or when you come during springtime, when everything is lush and green. Both are beautiful!
Next to that, you have a big chance of seeing the northern lights, which I have to witness once in my life! Iceland might be super expensive, and I don’t know if I can combine it with the other destinations in this list, but we really want to try and visit this island in 2025. Let’s hope and see!

Volendam, The Netherlands
As I lived in the Netherlands, every year I want to make a trip to a place I have not been to before.
Volendam is a pretty fisherman’s village in the northwest of the Netherlands and it is quite known in the country because many famous singers come from Volendam. When you are in Volendam, you have to try Haring (fish, of course).
A couple of years ago, I visited this town with my family and I liked it! Now that my boyfriend has been living with me in the Netherlands since August 2024, I want to show him all the nice places in the Netherlands. Volendam is on this list, together with my family again.
Volendam is very close to Amsterdam (20 minutes), so you can even combine it or go here as a daytrip. Moco Museum is a fun site if you go to Amsterdam.
Manchester, UK
What I just realized: All the trips I wanted to make in 2020 while Covid broke out, and had to cancel then, I want to make 5 years later for sure. How is this possible?! (This is an article for more reference)
Anyway, Manchester is also on my list for 2025. I would love to go here during my boyfriend’s birthday and gift him a Manchester United match, as he is a big fan and we would have done this in 2020 if Covid was not there.
In 2024 I actually flew to Manchester, as my sister moved to a place close by, but we did not visit Manchester itself.
Next year, I, of course want to visit my sister again in her house, and as my boyfriend’s best friend moved to Manchester as well, chances are super high we will visit Manchester.
Pondicherry, India
Then the last trip I would love to make in 2025 is going to Pondicherry in India. I have been here often, as my boyfriend lived there. Read here all the articles I wrote about this amazing city.
In 2025 we want to visit his previous hometown again, to visit his family and friends. Pondicherry is a place that is in my heart, as it is just so beautiful. Colorful houses, beautiful nature, amazing restaurants and cafeterias and lovely people of course. Let 2025 come fast so that I can visit my second home town again.
