Did you see the Ghost Walking Tour in Stockholm (Sweden), but you are still doubting to go? Don't! In this article I will tell you all about my experience and how fun it was!
What to expect in this article:
About Stockholm
Stockholm is Sweden’s capital and the largest city in the country, with 1 million inhabitants.
In November I had the chance to visit this awesome city. I had heard many good stories about how fun and cozy the city is, so I had to find out myself! Have you ever heard of Fika? Well when you go to Sweden, you will see it everywhere.
It is basically ‘a concept, a state of mind, an attitude and an important part of Swedish culture. Many Swedes consider that it is almost essential to make time for fika every day. It means making time for friends and colleagues to share a cup of coffee (or tea) and a little something to eat.’ This sounds beautiful and I can tell you, we made gladly use of it.
I spent 3 full days in the city and had a day trip to Sigtuna, which I will tell more about in a different article.
The Ghost Walking Tour of Stockholm
It is not like Stockholm is known for ghosts, still, when we saw a Ghost Walking Tour on GetYourGuide, we really wanted to do this!
Stockholm’s Gamla Stan (old town) is gorgeous! And as it is a safe city, it is perfect for 2 girls like us to be out in the night.
By the light of lantern (during dark hours), be entertained and horrified by tales of poltergeists, plagues, public executions, and murders on this exhilarating walking tour of Stockholm. Watch the past come to life as you visit the sites of a mixture of great and gruesome events.
Start your walking in Gamla Stan and end in the heart of the Old Town. Along the way, hear about Stockholm’s beginnings and learn how the city developed.
Discover the most important events in the city’s history by visiting the locations where they took place. Leave the main streets behind and explore forgotten courtyards, touch the old walls, and let the city’s history come alive.
Experience the past brought back to life as you smell, taste, and see what medieval Stockholm might have been like.
Our experience of the Ghost Walking Tour
Our experience in 1 word: Fun! But for this article, I have to express more 😉
Seriously, it was fun to walk around, discover hidden courtyards in Stockholm, and be amazed by the history and crazy stories of our fun guide. I forgot his name, but he is ginger, with a beard and I would say he looks like Prince Harry, especially with his British accent 😉
A bit overdramatic at times, but always respectful and making you laugh.
At the end of the tour, we even went down to a church, which was super spooky! You can be sure that you will scare your socks off at some moments. But all in a good way, as there will be plenty of moments for laughter.
One of the reasons I was amazed, is because one of the guests looked so much like Jared Padalecki (an actor from… Supernatural!), so much, so that I even asked if it was really not him. I am a big fan, so if he was, it would have been the highlight of that day.
End conclusion of the tour
By now, you must have understood that I loved being part of this tour. GetYourGuide did a good job on this one in Stockholm!
If you want to have an evening filled with not even interesting stories and goosebumps, but also laughter, this is your activity to do! I did make some videos during the tour, but I don’t want to share any information of what the guide shared, you have to get to know everything by yourself!
After that, I recommend getting a drink from one of the many bars Gamla Stan has.
Enjoy your evening and enjoy Stockholm!
