Woohoo you are going to travel for some time and planning to take your backpack. The next question is; what to take with you in this small bag? I was struggling a lot and did look online often to make sure I was not missing anything.
Clothes
Make sure you have outfits for at least 7 days. I had a bit more as I didn’t want to go for laundry every week
- 2 Shorts
- 5 Black t-shirts / 3 other colors / 2 spaghetti tops
- 2 Sets of pajamas
- 1 Set of workout clothes – shirt also use for sleeping
- 1 Long dress, 1 short dress, 1 beach dress
- 2 Bathing suits
- 5 Long cotton pants (In India it is better to be a bit covered and I knew I would spend most of my time there)
- 1 Skirt over my knees
- 1 Black belt
- 1 Black trousers (bc I knew I would visit a colder destination)
- 1 Blouse
- 1 Formal pant
- 1 Hoodie
- 1 Jacket
- 2 Bags; one with 12 pairs of underwear and one with 12 pairs of socks
- 4 Bra’s
In my clutch
In my clutch (I can advise you to take a money belt with you, in case you don’t feel safe. You can wear this underneath your clothing.
- Small wallet with some cash
- Carabiner hook for whenever I did not feel fully safe and wanted to put a tiny lock on my bag
- 2 TSA locks (make sure you buy this for your checked-in luggage, bc customs does not allow other locks). Just in case I forgot to put it on my luggage while flying
- Hand disinfection gel
- Nose and mouth mask
- Tissues (for dirty toilets with no toilet paper)
- Lipstick
- Credit card and driving license in an anti-theft cover
- Keys

- A pen
- Dutch cookies for energy

Daypack:
Whenever I was travelling in between places, these were inside my daypack:
- Camera
- A tiny bag with some cash
- If you want to buy a SIM card I would advise you to take your little pin to open your phone and put in your new sim
- The electric toothbrush itself
- Powerbank (make sure it’s not more than 40.000 mph) and its charger
- More tissues
- Medication: paracetamol/ diarrhea stoppers/plasters etc.
- 2 Pens
- Laptop
- Chargers of my laptop, phone
- Harddisk for a backup of my photos
- Small deo (not more than 100ml in case you forget to take it out while flying)
- Normal toothbrush and toothpaste
- Hairbrush
- You can take some underwear with you here, in case you lose your luggage at the airport, but I never did.
- A small jacket/scarf if you feel cold
- Earphones for when you want to listen to music
2 Toiletbags
- Makeup (mascara, eye pencil, lip liner, concealer, Odorex)
- 3 Nailpolish
- Lipbalm
- One tiny perfume stick
- One tiny creme
- Epilator
- Jewelry
- Small nail polish remover
- Nail file
- Deet against mosquitos
- Eye swabs
- Little mirror
- Another TSA lock
- A couple of hairbands

- 2 Wet face masks
Shoes
- 2 Pairs of sneakers
- One pair of slippers for dirty bathrooms
- Watershoes, for in waterbodies
- I did miss one more pair of slippers, just for walking outside. So I bought one there.
I never used:
- The moneybelt: I felt safe enough and thought it was a hassle to wear this under my clothes. I would take it with me again, in case I do feel unsafe. I have heard that people have used it in South America.
- 2 Wet face masks: It was a nice idea for some me-time or us-time, but I never found time to do it or forgot about it.
- Little mirror: In every hotel, there was a mirror. But I would still take this with me again, bc you never know.
- Selfie stick: Because I was always travelling with someone that could take a picture of us and often we asked strangers if we wanted a photo of us both.
- Drybag: Also never used it, because I was always travelling with someone.
I hope you got some inspiration from my list. Please let me know where you are going if you need advice or anything let me know!
