Are you looking for a good place to stay in Agra? Then definitely check out Joey's Hostel. We had a great stay here and in this article, I will tell you why!
What to expect in this article:
Why visit Agra?
First, of all, you might be wondering, why should I visit Agra.
Well, I have already written another article about Agra, which you can read here. The biggest reason is because of the Taj Mahal!ย
Visiting the Taj Mahal is like stepping into a fairy tale of love and beauty.ย Itโs timeless to see and its romantic backstory makes it a must-see destination forย travelers seeking awe-inspiring experiences and Instagram-worthy photos. Have you seen the pictures I took here with my boyfriend, I feel it is such a romantic place! Did you know the Taj Mahal is one of the 7 wonders of the world?ย
Some information about Agra in India
Agra, the town/city that houses the Taj Mahal, may not excite everyone. While the Taj is undeniably stunning, the town itself can feel chaotic, with persistent vendors. It just doesnโt feel so special and as a girl, I did not want to walk there by myself.ย
There are some other attractions in and near Agra that you can visit, apart from the Taj Mahal.ย
We know some people who only came for the Taj Mahal and left the same day, mostly to Jaipur. We did not want to be in a hurry and stayed another 2 nights (actually three as I got sick, but letโs not count that). The other spots that you can visit are mentioned in this article below:ย
Why stay at Joey's Hostel
Now let’s go back to the accommodation. I can totally recommend you to stay at Joey’s Hostel.ย
For a memorable stay with a view of the Taj Mahal, Joey’s Hostel is your best bet.
Not only is it budget-friendly, it also has comfortable (also private) rooms and is 2 minutes away from the entrance of the Taj Mahal. Still, the view of the Taj Mahal was the best! And they offer good food while chilling with that gorgeous view.ย

My honest opinion about Joey's Hostel
Unfortunately, I got sick in Agra, which meant we had to stay one more day there. Lucky for us, the staff did not make any problems about this.ย
The only thing I did not like about our private room was the window, itย looked up on the hall, which was lit up in the night. For me, it is pretty hard to sleep when it is not dark, so that was a pity.ย
The hygiene and bathroom are also Indian, which means, not super clean and modern, but for India, it was not bad.ย
Budget- and funwise this was a great hostel, as we spoke to so many lovely people.ย
Fun vibe at Joey's Hostel
The first night at Joey’s Hostel they offered a free sunset tour with others in the hostel. A sunset tour?! That sounds perfect for me. If you want to meet other travelers, this hostel is a great way to do that. To be honest, I was not there to meet others, as I was there mainly to see my boyfriend, still, we chatted with so many lovely people that shared their (travel) experiences with us.ย
After that tour, we saw many people playing games and chatting on the rooftop, watching the gorgeous Taj Mahal, and enjoying their food.ย
I tried the butter chicken burger asย I was in some need of non-Indian food. So I chose for a burger, but still, butter chicken… is amazing, so this combination I needed to try!
Nonetheless, I would say the food is a bit overpriced for India, but you can eat so many things and the view is great, so I guess you have to accept that.ย
Joey's Hostel in Delhi and Rishikesh
Oh, one more thing: You can also find Joey’s Hostel in Delhi and Rishikesh. We also stayed at the one in Delhi, and also had a great stay there! That is also why I wanted to share this hostel in Agra.ย
The hostel in Delhi had a nice bathroom, sweet staff that really wanted to help you, and is only 5 minutes from the metro.ย
I have not stayed at the one in Rishikesh, but in the pictures, you can see that the view of the mountains is gorgeous!ย
